Back in July we learned that the owner of Rustik in Bloomingdale would be opening a second restaurant in Brookland (though it will not be serving pizza.) They’ve now applied for a liquor license which reveals a few more details:

“New Tavern. Serving a variety of American style dishes. Will provide entertainment in the form of occasional jazz bands, solo artist, and DJ. Occupancy load is 142. Summer Garden. (69 Seats)”

Hours of operation are listed as Sunday through Thursday 8 am – 2 am, Friday and Saturday 8 am – 3 am.

Awesome – do we know when they plan on opening?

  • Brookland Rez

    Can’t wait.

But, how long until ANC Carolyn Steptoe goes off on one of her unilateral, anti-gentrification quests against this local business?

    • Brookland Avenue

Its not in Steptoe’s SMD any longer. Though still in the general ANC she is a part of.

    Bring it on…can’t wait!

    Excellent!

Hey, speaking of Brookland. Has anyone heard more about when Brookland’s Finest might be opening? Clinton Yates wrote that piece in the Post Nov. and I haven’t seen anything about it since.

If this is anything like Rustik it will be a great spot.

Any word if they plan to serve real Powers?

    • Hahaha nice!!

      • MrSeanHennessey

It will only be served if PoP approves the legitimacy of Powers.

They has an open house in the fall where they told the neighbors all of this. I think they said the buildout would take some time. Looked that way.

      Er… Had.

Nice. Can’t wait to have another option in Brookland.

  • This is great! I wish others would see the charm of our community and bring their business to 12th street.
