Gonna Have to Wait a bit Longer for that “Female Friendly” Steakhouse

It was almost exactly a year ago that we first heard of plans for a “female friendly” steakhouse. Back in August we saw coming soon signage for STK Steakhouse on Connecticut Ave. In September a placard was posted for STK’s liquor license. Signs still call for a Fall opening:

But a peek in the window reveals they still have a ways to go:

I have to wonder if it’s happening at all at this point, since basically no buildout at all has occurred.

I guess our snide comments scared them away. High five, PoPville!

  • Oh no! Guess I’m going to have to join the deer hunt in RC park and slap some venison steaks on the grill.

As far as I’m concerned we can wait forever…

They actually open next week – they decided to go with an “industrial chic” vibe in which groups of women sit in an unfinished dining room and eat overpriced tiny steaks while drinking pink martinis. During the meal you’re expected to say at least once, “this isn’t my daddy’s steakhouse!”

I think we’re all better off without this kind of junk concept restaurant.

I’m a lady, I love steak and I don’t want to go to a “steakhouse” that serves me watered down portions but probably charges a crap load because everything geared toward women is more expensive. I don’t think anyone will be upset if this never opens.

From a woman that has dined at STK on numerous occasions, please don’t knock it before you try it. The vibe is fun & sexy. What’s even better than the vibe, is the food. The food is amazing. Give it a chance!
