“Gifts, Live Music, Books, Food & Drink!

The Upshur Street Handmade Arts & Crafts Fair takes place this Saturday, December 14, from 11:00am-4:00pm. Thirty local artists, crafts people, and food vendors will line the 800 block of Upshur Street in Petworth for this annual neighborhood holiday event. You’ll find one-of-a-kind handmade gifts such as pottery, wooden jewelry, knitted scarves, small oil paintings, photo prints, and tasty edible gifts, too, plus a whole lot more.

The fair’s Tailgate Music Series features four local bands rocking anything from honky tonk to jazz on the back of a pick up truck. The musical line up includes The Delafields, Herb Scott Trio, Elena & Los Fulanos, and Paperhaus.

Participating local businesses include Domku Bar & Cafe, Willow Boutique, Petworth Citizen, Nathan Hill Design, Annie’s Ace Hardware, and Fia’s Fabulous Finds. Check in for day-of specials on custom prints, clothes, delicious food, and some kickin’ cocktails that’ll warm your toes.

Join us Saturday for the 8th year of supporting DC’s local goods producers, keeping our holiday shopping dollars at home, and supporting emerging entrepreneurs in the District. While you’re at it, shop the annual Petworth Library Holiday Book Sale on the other side of Georgia Avenue.

When: Saturday, December 14, 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Finding a gift for moms can be difficult. Google “Mother’s Day gifts,” and you’ll scroll through endless lists of beauty products, candles and fuzzy robes. Sure, those are sweet, but sometimes it’s fun to surprise loved ones with something a little more, well, practical!

Here’s one idea: Give her a gift certificate for a home cleaning from Well-Paid Maids. It’s the perfect “thank you,” “I love you” or “you’ve got this” for any mom. She can schedule the home cleaning at her convenience and breathe easy knowing she has one less thing to do.

Our cleaners will take care of everything, including vacuuming and mopping as well as cleaning and dusting countertops, tables, mirrors, appliances and more. Sinks, toilets, showers and appliance exteriors also get a good scrub.
