2005 14th Street, NW

Huge news for U Street. Chef Erik Bruner-Yang from the incredibly popular Toki Underground (1234 H St, NE) is hooking up with the folks from Hanoi House (2005 14th Street, NW) starting July 7th. Not clear if Hanoi House will be changing their name or what exactly will be on the menu but more info as it becomes available. Can’t wait to learn more!

Nice, he should improve that horribly bland food significantly!

I’ve been wondering about that place. It’s so nondescript that I walk by it on the way to Marvin all the time and NEVER think about going in.

Just make it EXACTLY like Toki Underground! Please

So, they might change the name of this place AGAIN. Do people forget that it was Blackbyrd Warehouse initially? How many times can a restaurant reinvent itself? I’m calling Madonna complex.

Love the food and the decor at Hanoi House — hope they just add to the menu and that’s it!

I’ve tried twice but each time I felt like the meal was missing many of the 5 flavor elements of Vietnamese cuisine.

This could be a HUGE improvement. Agree with those who say the food at Hanoi house is bland – I ate there twice and am not interested in going back. HOWEVER I <3 Toki so this is worth following. positive news

The food is not good at Hanoi House (extremely bland when Vietnamese is usually so flavorful). They need to get someone in there who can cook, or just turn it back into a bar.

    Is this another Hilton project?

Yes. It’s actually a new building. I think they’d be better off expanding Marvin into this space, like they did on the rooftop.

I heard Eric was currently in jail with an assault felony charge or something. Anyone know about this?

had always regretted not investing in the ‘maketto’ offering on fundrise.. wonder if this will all still go off without a hitch.
