Lots of Progress at Chupacabra’s Brick and Mortar Spot off H Street

822 H St, NE (though actually located on 9th Street)

Back in June 2011 we first learned that the folks from the food truck Chupacabra would be opening a taco shop in the old auto detailing shop behind Stan’s Pants at 822 H St, NE. The entrance is actually on 9th St, NE and this past weekend the signage was getting painted.

On their facebook page they noted on April 19th:

“Chupacabra Latin Kitchen & Taqueria Brick and Mortar passed its health inspection today!”

Chupacabra will join the recently opened Sol Mexican Grill. Stay tuned for a taco taste off…

After the jump check out a bonus sweet city ride out front.

  • Chupacabra’s truck was significantly better than SOL’s in my opinion, so I’m really excited about this opening in my soon-to-be new neighborhood.

I saw the sign for another taco place in this neighborhood. Far east Taco has a store on 15th and E st NE, but it does not look open yet. They are by far the best taco truck. They are next to my favorite Liquor store, Grand Liquor, on the Hill. The owners are great, they are open on Sundays, and they will special order you your favorite, beer, wine or liquor.

I heard Chupacabra is a Latin Kitchen & Taqueria and not a Mexican or Tex-Mex place like the others and I can not wait for something like this in our neighborhood.

    looks good man

i wonder how the houses next door will cope with the opening herethough
i know the owner of the red house (2 doors down) there will deff be more people around the fronts of their homes now and an increase of garbage right there
