Man Shot in the Head at 17th and L Street, NW

MPD tweeted around 3am last night:

“2D Shooting //1700 Blk L Street NW //Adult male shot in the head unconscious & not breathing //LOF black BMW w/ chrome wheels //6559”

From CBS:

A witness says the shooting may have been the result of a dispute between patrons of a nearby bar where several NFL players, including Washington Redskins running back Evan Royster, appeared earlier that evening.

Update from MPD:

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a fatal shooting which occurred in the 1000 block of 17th Street, Northwest.

On Thursday, March 21, 2013, at approximately 2:39 am, units from the Second District responded to the 1000 block of 17th Street, NW, for the report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they located an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds while sitting inside of his vehicle. Personnel from DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to a local hospital where he was admitted in critical condition. The victim later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The decedent is identified as 24-year-old Paul Aime Tanoh Danzo of Laurel, MD.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.
