Wow, I was just there last week (I think it was Tuesday).

      • Anonymous

Wow, my girlfriend used to work in this area 5 years ago.

        • Anonymous

I once bought moist towelettes at a CVS near there.

Won’t someone think of the children?!?!?!?!

            +1

        • My name has an L in it and I used to be 17 once!

          • Anonymous

I’ve heard of Washington DC before

          • WTF? My name is Paul Aime Tanoh Danzo and I’m dead!

Small world! It’s just blocks from the White House, you know.

nothing good comes from being at a club at 3am on a weekday……….

    • Anonymous

Especially when NFL players are involved.

      • That is a silly comment. Many many NFL players are fine people. The few bad ones get the headlines.

        • Anonymous

Yes, the few bad ones like Ray Lewis.

          • Anonymous

Ray Lewis has two Superbowl rings…and you don’t

          • Anonymous

            I also never murdered anyone!

          • Anonymous

Neither has Ray, but don’t let facts tone down your hatred.

          • Anonymous

Unless you were the guy that did the murder, you don’t have the facts either.

The truth is, there were some very peculiar circumstances, and it seems very likely that Ray was involved somehow. I mean, one of the victims blood was found in Lewis’ limo….

I’ve had lots of good come from being at a club at 3am. I just don’t hang out with people packing heat.

  • Anonymous

    I hope he’s ok :(

Very unusual spot for a shooting considering it’s mostly office buildings and should be rather quiet at that time on a Wednesday night.

    • Anonymous

No witnesses… I always feel the least safe in areas like this at night. Hopefully some of the buildings or parking garages have security cameras that caught some details.

The Washington Post article says a valet from a new nightclub called Balletto says the victim was a customer there that night. I’v never heard of it.

      • Le Jokeur

I heard it was from Balletto, not Barcode.

    • Anon

I’m pretty sure news reports this morning said it was a fatal shooting.

      • annonsy

        WTOP reports shooting was fatal

  • Le Jokeur

Apparently it happened at the new Balleto nightclub.

At least a few of the places (Baletto and before that Ascot, Meeting Place) turn into nightclubs after hours. As far as I know, they are all open until at least 3 and pull in a pretty good size crowd on Wed., Fri. and Saturday. This definitely isn’t the first ‘event’ that’s happened around here at night as a result of that nightclub crowd. I think there was another shooting a few years ago after an argument at Meeting Place…not deadly though.

No witnesses, weird location, a little bit after these “unofficial” clubs close, most likely he was inebriated….yeah, this was definitely a hit. He probably knew his assailant(s).

    • This seems like rampant speculation.

And according to the CBS article PoP linked to, there _were_ witnesses.

  • I used to go the Indian place for lunch, the Ascot, and it was always weird to see the disco lights and dance floor. Apparently it was a lunch spot AND a night club. I went by that location one night at midnight and there was a big line to get in. Bummer this happened at all but at least it didn’t happen in an area where people live.

  • Obviously, there needs to be restaurant moratorium within 1,800 ft. of Farragut North Metro. The crime in that area has skyrocketted in the last 36 hours!!1!

  • This is why I do not go to events called “Scandal Wednesdays.” “Foreplay Fridays,” on the other hand, sounds totally legit… (I joke, I joke)

    • farnsworth

Sounds like Saturday’s the night to go

One of my friends was robbed at gun point at this exact location back in December. He was leaving one of the clubs by himself (Friday night) and 3 guys rushed him, and forced him to withdraw money from the ATM. Maybe robbery was the motive???

I totally thought of the Ascot when I read this. One of those weird underground night spots downtown/meat market/karoake bar.
