Jane will still have her mobile grooming and boarding business, but sad to see the shop go. They are great with dogs!

  • The Petco killed them in just about a year. Sad to see them go – don’t have a dog now but loved walking by on the weekends and seeing all the puppies hanging out.

The landlords in Georgetown are charging crazy rent for space so only national chains and banks can afford the rent. Topher at the Georgetown Metropolitan has done some really great coverage of this issue.

Went this afternoon and it is starting to clear out, especially for cat stuff. But there are tons of covered litterboxes left in the $5 ballpark, which is amazing. And I got a furminator for $12!

      Hmm, good to know!

Now I’m wondering if I can overcome my dislike of Georgetown enough to venture out there.

I love the gorgeous architecture of the neighborhood, but when it comes to M Street and Wisconsin Avenue, I hate the tourist-crowded sidewalks, the dominance of national chains, and most importantly the hassle of getting there, whether by public transportation or by car.

      • There’s actually very few chain stores up on this stretch of Wisconsin. There’s some really nice (expensive) boutiques, antique stores, cafes, and restaurants around Wisconsin & Q. Most of the tourists stay closer to M Street, thankfully.
