1424 Park Rd, NW

Paila Chilean Grill opened up at 1424 Park Rd, NW back in Feb. 2011. Though there were many fans they’ve recently closed and will be replaced by Mi Cuba Cafe. I’m told Mi Cuba Cafe will bring authentic Cuban food to the neighborhood in about six weeks. Stay tuned.

  • El latino

Por fin viene un sitio donde comerse un sandwich cubano.

  • DJ

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Paila’s chacarero sandwich and fish tacos were my favorite! That was the best cheap meal in the neighborhood, by far.

  • Paila had good food and the nicest owners. I always thought the place suffered from a poor layout with the kitchen taking up a substantial portion of the restaurant.

  • Alex

That sucks. Paila had amazing and cheap food and such friendly owners.

  • Boricua Princess

    Yay to cuban food!

booo, thats so sad. its so annoying that a place like this goes under and el chucho is busy every night.

  • Jai

No! I loved this place. My favorite in the neighborhood. The owners really were the best – hope they’re okay.

  • Doug

I’ll miss Paila. The sandwiches were terrific, and a good deal. Hope they can reopen somewhere else (Petworth, for example).

Man, that sucks. Their food was probably the best in the neighborhood, and really great prices too. The chacarero sandwich is one of the best sandwiches anywhere. Lame. It’s a damned shame.

Oh no! Where will I get my completos?

  • Oh well. Paila Grill wasn’t very good anyway.

Really, really, really sad to hear this. Great food, cheap prices, SUPER nice people. Just a shame. I think the location is tough and maybe the marketing was insufficient, but I’m surprised, they really worked hard to make this an appealing place with good food at fair prices, something we in D.C. often complain about a lack of. Wish more people has supported them.
