Today is National Lemonade Day – Drink Some and Raise Money for a Good Cause

From an email:

On Monday, Aug 20, several restaurants around the country will donate ALL proceeds from the sale of lemonade (and, in some cases, spiked lemonade drinks & lemonade-inspired desserts), to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), which raises money to fight childhood cancer (more details below).

Hill Country Barbecue and Carmine’s will go head to head in a STAND-OFF ON 7th STREET on Monday from 11 AM to 4 PM with dualing lemonade stands in front of each restaurant. Both locations will be serving $1 lemonades with all sales going to ALSF.

The following local restaurants are confirmed to participate in the multi-city fundraiser on Monday:

Hill Country Barbecue Market (410 7th Street, NW)

In addition to the lemonade stand detailed above, which will offer Classic, Strawberry and Blueberry Lemonade for $1 each on the street, HCDC will be selling all three variations of lemonade inside the restaurant all day in their signature mason jars ($2.50/16 oz; $4/32 oz), as well as Tito’s-Spiked Lemonade for $6. 100% of all lemonade sales sold throughout the day on Monday (11 AM – 11 PM) will go to ALSF. Please note: Both Hill Country Hospitality locations in NYC (Hill Country Barbecue and Hill Country Chicken) will be doing similar fundraisers for ALSF on Monday.

Carmine’s (425 7th Street, NW)
Carmine’s DC on 7th Street NW, will be running a lemonade stand outside of their restaurant with $1 lemonade for the cause from 11 AM to 4 PM. In addition, Louis Lemonade (an adult beverage for $5) will be available inside from 11 AM to 7 PM.

Rosa Mexicano (All 3 DC-area locations – 575 7th Street, NW, 5225 Wisconsin Ave, NW, and National Harbor)

Inspired by their ongoing partnership with Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, Rosa Mexicano pastry chef Jai Kendall has crafted the Gelatina de Limonada (Lemonade Jello): Horchata-lemonade “jello”, meyer lemon-basil marmalade with raspberry-rose granita ($8.50). The sweet and refreshing flan-like treat “tastes like a creamy raspberry lemonade,” and will be available for the month of August, including National Lemonade Day. Granville Moore’s (1238 H Street, NE)

Granville Moore’s will be making a special batch of refreshing lemonade on Monday ($3 each), as well as donate all proceeds from the sale of GM’s Lemonade Cocktail, which is a blend of lemonade, bourbon, ginger beer and mint ($7 each). Both drinks will be available throughout the dinner service starting at 5 PM.
