A Peek Inside Del Frisco’s Grill Coming to 1201 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW

1201 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW

Back in May we noticed some progress at Del Frisco’s Grill coming to the former Les Halles space at 1201 Pennsylvania Ave, NW. Yesterday I stopped by to see how the inside was looking. It is way further along than I thought. I’m told they’ll be opening July 14th. Stay tuned for updates on their menu (I’m told their Ahi tacos will be amazing) and a proper photo preview as we get closer to the 14th. I’m particularly psyched about the potential of the outdoor patio as well. Here’s a peek at what it looks like now and some renderings.

Inside features a huge bar plus table and booth seating for 170. The Patio outside will seat 100.

Check out some renderings after the jump.

And the patio:

Looks like a nice place, but is this a good location? The building is soul-crushing, and the area, though close to the Gov and monuments, seems passe. My impression is that folks fine dining in DC (outside of Gtown or Dupont) used to huddle near to the mall, partly cause it was safe. Now that so many more options are open throughout the city, this area seems blah. Not sure if I’m right or off base.

You have like 30 white shoe law firms within a 10 block radius. They’ll pull in big lunch crowds.

When people who work in this area want to have dinner in the city, they’ll probably go here. A lot of people prefer to dine out near their offices because they don’t feel like driving to another part of the city and/or they don’t know the other neighborhoods and are afraid to explore.

      • This is the kind of place for workers or tourists who don’t know or don’t want to walk a couple more blocks to Central — or on to Penn Quarter.

If it keeps Central a little less crowded, then I’m all for it.

So how long until these over-sized drum shades look dated?

I went to the one in NYC and had a REALLY awful experience and the food was underwhelming. Will definitely not be wasting my money again.

  • Dull place for a dull location
