$3800 sound right?

Not that I know what it means, but this looks like a house that the owner tried to sell, but couldn’t (pictures are marked as being taken in July). It looks ok, and for three people wouldn’t be terrible. But I know nothing about that area.

    • Anonymous

That was my first instinct as well.

  • I really am trying to keep an open mind here, but I am sorry. No…freaking…way.

Every bedroom has its own bathroom
Utilities are included which during the summer months can get pricey.

Thats all I got. Paying $1,300 a month per person to live in a group house in the ‘dad, a 20 minute walk from a metro stop is pretty insane.

  • BW

This reminds me of the SNL “Chameleon XLE” commercial skit of the early 90s. Wherein people are always having their cars broken into and the voiceover says, “there’s a better way!” And it’s basically a car that is complete sh*t on the outside but super lux on the inside.

This place and DC in a nutshell

  • Denizen of Tenallytown

I’ll take “Signs you know the DC rental market is insane” for $1200, Alex. I’m sorry, but H St NE isn’t THAT freaking hot. Good luck!

    • You’re right, but you know someone will pay it. When it comes to real estate in DC, excessive optimism largely has replaced common sense.

  • Trinidaddy

I live on that block. This makes me feel VERY good about buying here(my house has some feature this one doesn’t, etc). If they get anything remotely close to the asking price, daddy’s retiring EARLY! GIT MONEY!

    • SF

Word. If this rents for that price, I might rent my own house and live off the income.

  • jm

no bathroom on the main floor? that would be annoying.

it’s definitely expensive but it includes nice furniture and a tv, not sure how much that is worth to people.

  • John M

No, no, no, no, no, no…

Am I the only one who hates when property flippers try to rent out a house they couldn’t flip at an outrageous price so they can get a return on investment?… Especially in a neighborhood that’s NOT worth it yet (probably shooting for the “I just moved to DC crowd”).

I don’t care if there is a helipad on the roof of this house, but $1300/month per person is NOT a good price in Trinidad. You can find entire houses for under $2000 that are nearly as nice. Having had friends who’ve lived in Trinidad and been assaulted on their front porch, those rents are absurd considering the crime and distance from Metro.

  • MikeinDC

Let’s be honest, it’s not H St, it’s Trinidad. And it’s way overpriced for both places. Seller, I mean landlord, clearly has a distorted view of the market. Couldn’t sell it, won’t rent it.

    • Well, actually, it’s not Trinidad. Like it or not, Trinidad starts north of Florida Avenue. It’s certainly very close to Trinidad, but it just isn’t Trinidad. That’s like saying Niagara Falls, NY is in Ontario.

  • You can get a very nice group house with three bedrooms – more convenient to H and not on Florida for less. Might not have the contemporary bells and whistles, but I’ll take quiet, convenience and safety over a big shower.

  • I’ll take Fieldstone for 400, Alex.

  • If it includes a Blackwater security detail and an armored car (or at least one of Kwame Brown’s Navigators retro-fitted with bullet-proof glass) I might consider.

    • Seriously? Would you have the same requirements for living at 13th and Columbia NW?

  • GloverGuy

Did no one read the ad? This place has STAINLESS STEEL APPLIANCES. Totally worth $3,800.
