Judging Restaurants/Bars – Melrose Hotel’s The Library and The Landmark

by Prince Of Petworth July 15, 2011 at 12:00 pm 2 Comments

I’m always curious about these two spots every time I pass them. The Library bar has been on my list for a while now. The Melrose Hotel and it’s bar and restaurant are located at 2430 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW.

You can find more info about the restaurant and the bar including the menu here. Any fans of either the bar and/or the restaurant?

Ehh, it’s nice but nothing special. I lived around the corner for years and would go there occasionally when just trying to drink some top shelf liquor in peace.

Not cheap, but decent, small portioned foods.

Really in no way different than the hotel bar in any upscale hotel.

We stayed at the Melrose a couple of times prior to become more permanent Washingtonians. I’ve had drinks in the bar before, but it never made any impression on me beyond ‘standard-issue 4-star hotel bar’. It’s fine. Nothing particularly good or particularly bad. Just a place where drinks are served to people, most of whom do not live in Washington. Can’t comment on the food.
