Just last week Officer Pujols contributed to the arrest a burglary suspect while he was off duty.

Today MPD writes:

Last night, Officer Pujols received information that a male subject in the 1300 blk of Spring Road was in possession of a handgun. Officer Pujols along with Officer’s LaFrance, McCloskey and Amador responded to the area and set up an observation post. The male subject was observed and began to flee on foot when officers moved in. The subject discarded a loaded handgun which was recovered by officers. The adult male subject was located and apprehended. He has been charged with illegally possessing a firearm.

I’d like to commend the efforts of not only these officers but all 4D members as we continue to work to make our streets safer.

Congrats to Officer Pujols along with Officer’s LaFrance, McCloskey and Amador.

Hey, any word on what was going on at 17th and U Street NW last night around 9 pm? Roads were blocked off and the 90 buses were running northbound on 16th street (usually run up 18th street).

Major props to these cops in the posting!

  • Mysterioso

Is this why Pujols seemed so preoccupied, going 0 for 5 last night against the Marlins?

    • caballero

No matter how hard I try, I’ll never get used to the name “poo holes.”

      • Mysterioso

I remember when ESPN.com used to phonetically spell all of the players’ name, and it literally had “POO-Holes” next to his name in parentheses. Pure gold.

On top of which, it’s such a sad comment on Americans that “Pujols” is not self-explanatory in how it’s pronounced. That’s like putting “POE-Yo” next to “pollo”.

  • Marcus Aurelius

They should totally give him that contract extension.

    • Mysterioso

      Trade him for Jeter.

      Better yet: Werth.

Can you imagine Werth, Pujols and Jeter on the same team? Toss in Vladimir Guerrero, Miguel Tejada, Ivan Rodriguez, Mag Ordonez, and youhave the all-overpaid over-the-hill team. Nolan Ryan could pitch.

      • Mysterioso

Manny could come out of “retirement”

  • Vinnie

LOL; you guys are silly. Those Dominican and Cuban baseball players are good at what they do. I am a Yankees fan.

    • Mysterioso

      Go Yankees!

      • andy

        Obligatory boo. BOOOO.

        • andy

          But props for Cubans.

        • Mysterioso

If you hate the Yankees, you obviously hate freedom and capitalism and the USA. Go back to Iraq, Commie!

    • saf

      You’re in DC.

The Nats are the DC team.

It’s good to see that the lack of available firarms dealers in DC has really tamped down the number of firearms available to people.

    • Eric in Ledroit

and the lack of gun regulation meant the cops had to let this guy go without charges despite him acting suspiciously and carrying a handgun.

      oh wait.

      • Anonymous

Too bad “suspicious” isn’t a charge.

And unlicensed carry is a $500 misdemeanor, so he was released as soon as he posted bail.

Too bad your Utopian, yet fundamentally flawed world continues to disappoint in the real world.

        • another guy named Chris

          wow thats it?

I ended up paying $400 for parking my car on the wrong side of the street. I guess I should be happy it wasn’t a misdemeanor.

          • briefly

Yep, Carrying Pistol Without License (CPWL) is a misdemeanor. All the hullaballoo over the DC gun laws is a bunch of fakery. DC penalties are much less than federal minumums as I understand it. Blame Mendelson and enjoy his smug rule for the next 4 years.

this only applies to people who follow the law

  • dreas

Nice work; that’s right near my home.

    • Your Mom

Me too. Half a block. Good job, coppers. Now please find the person who stole my weed whacker.

  • andy

    good work in the neighborhood!

lots of cops in effect last night around Highlands.

I think people are worried about that warm weather = bad behavior thing that often seems to occur.

“The subject discarded a loaded handgun which was recovered by officers.”

I’m sick and tired of these lawless British immigrants coming to our country and robbing us all blind.

So funny to read this post! I was reading the ANC ward 4 crime report and thought to myself “F yeah, Officer Pujols! What a supercop!”

In all seriousness if you are reading this officer Pujols, the residents at 3rd and Emerson are grateful to have you on the force!

  • Tad

Excellent work on the part of the officers, and also big props to the citizen who reported it in the first place.

  • PT Varnum

Pujols does seem to be everywhere lately. Awesome. It’s too bad we can’t make his and the MPDs job easier by having laws that actually keep the criminals detained once they are caught. Bail to get out and 250 for another gun and that guy is back in business for Pujols to catch him again. How long until we can recall?

  • Officer Pujols

I to thank everyone for the kind words. Its a pleasure for me and my team to serve this city.

    • You are awesome babe!! You are great at whatever you do!

  • Wifey

Thats my baby Pujols!!! He is an awesome Officer and an amazing mate. I am soo proud of you babe! Keep up the great work. YOU ROCK!!!
