PoP Preview – Peregrine Coffee Shop at 1718 14th St, NW in Logan Circle

Back in Aug. ’10 we learned that Peregrine Espresso would be expanding into Logan Circle (they have an extremely popular Capitol Hill location by Eastern Market at 660 Pennsylvania Ave SE.)

I was able to get some sneak peek photos last night before an opening party. The exact opening hasn’t been selected as a few permits/approvals still need to be in order. They will likely be open over the weekend or early next week.

There isn’t much room for seating inside but there will be a bunch of stools and and the front window area which can likely fit 15 or 20. Also in the warm weather there will eventually be a bit of outdoor seating out front like at Cork.

1718 14th St, NW is right next to Cork Wine Bar. Cork used to be the home of Sparky’s coffee shop which closed back in 2007. We’re sorta coming full circle…

The space itself looks great. There are lots of nice details that you can see in the photos after the jump.

This place will be a great complement to Corky’s Wine Bar next door. 14th Street is finally growing up!

Those bags of beans make me very excited. NW Peddler service?

I like it, this will give me another place to go besides Mid City Caffe (above Miss Pixie’s.) Maybe they will have a better food selection.

Wonderful, wonderful news! Thanks for the update.

  • I thought Cork is in the former Sparky’s location? I can’t wait for this to open!

    $2 coffee…that’s $1 cheaper than mid city!

looking forward to trying it this weekend.

Jesus, this place is going to be rockin’!

  • yo yo yo

I wish there were more sitting room. There’s just not much around there worth wandering around with a cup of coffee for. Especially in the summer when it will be hot, and there is basically no shade on that stretch of 14th Street.

That’s why MidCity is pretty nice. You can browse Pixie’s while waiting for your cup to cool.

Mid City Caffe has got to step it up!

  • So very excited. I moved from Cap Hill and am THRILLED not to have to quit my Peregrine addiction.

  • Katie

PoP, do you know whether they will be serving stuff from Buzz Bakery?

    So psyched for this.

  • D

Yeah, this will be bad news for Mid City.

  • Bob

Mid City’s bad coffee and service are bad news for Mid City. Even though I live around the corner, I walk seven blocks to FILTER, rather than patronize Mid City.

  • Clem Dillcrum

    Can’t wait! I love Peregrine’s!

  • Peregrine Shill

Yeah – our coffee tastes like gobs of juicy tobacco spit! (Are we still on baseball metaphors?)
