PoP Preview – Tynan Coffee and Tea Opening in NoMa Tomorrow Nov. 17

by Prince Of Petworth November 16, 2010 at 10:30 am 16 Comments

Tynan Coffee and Tea will be opening up at 1275 First Street, NE in NoMa tomorrow and having a grand opening Dec. 1st. Many will recall that Tynan also has a Columbia Heights location at 1400 Irving St, NW. There new NoMa location is also it’s biggest. The space is 1800 sq ft and has room for 46 seats. In the warmer months there will also be outdoor seating. While having a similar feel and look to the Columbia Heights location, this location also has a small tv area and will host old photos instead of a mural.

I spoke to Pat Coyle who’s promoting the new cafe and he shares:

“We will offer a happy hour M-F 4:00pm to Close (8pm).

The Grand Opening will remain on Wednesday, December 1st. We will have our Tynan Giveaway contest, the opportunity to win Tynan gift certificates, from 6:00am-5:00pm and a complimentary shoe shine from 1pm- 4pm. We will have our Grand Opening Happy Hour from 4-8.”

Pop, any news on the Tynan folks’ planned coffee shop in Park Place on Georgia?

    • Prince Of Petworth

It’s still in the pipeline but not clear when it’ll be completed. In my opinion it seems that it is not their highest priority at the moment. I hope that will change soon.

        by “completed” you mean “started.”

I’ll definitely be there tomorrow to check out our newest neighborhood addition!

As will I. I’ll be wearing a yellow carnation on my lapel if anyone wants to say hi. Not really.

I really want to like Tynan, but I find the food and service to be really inconsistent.

yeah i feel meh about tynan in the same way i feel meh about saxby’s. filter, on the other hand…

  • Chad

I hear Dave Tynan himself will be playing head barista for the grand opening tomorrow night, and that’s not something any real coffee lover wants to miss.

Anyone know if there are actually any residents in these new buildings yet?

    • Good afternoon,
Yes, the apartments in NoMa are leasing quickly! The Loree Grand at Union Place is 55% leased already (just started leasing June 1). The Flats 130 opened for move-ins October 1 and are about 5% leased.

By the end of December, more than 5,000 people will have moved into NoMa to live or work.

i love that despite all the whiners and haters, Noma just keeps on getting better and better, despite the economy. you all at the bid must laugh your buts off at the silly internet comments you get.

keep it up, and a special thanks to your street clean up crews. my god they do a good job.

Hope this won’t hurt Pound’s business too much…

agreed…just stopped by pount for the first time a few weeks ago and the owner was super-nice. i enjoyed the nutella latte!

  • Just stopped by the new Tynan for lunch… really busy, as I guess is to be expected the first day. It is such a cool spot! The TV on the wall is a nice addition. I would check this place out if I were you!
