Garden of the Day

by Prince Of Petworth April 13, 2010 at 9:19 pm 10 Comments

I’ve admired this garden for many years now (and featured elements of it numerous times). I imagine I’ll be featuring this garden, located at 16th & V Streets, NW every spring that I run this blog. Anyway, I was complementing the owner (seen in the background) and he told me why the pond was originally put in:

He said that people used to cut across the yard all the time so they installed the pond. That cracks me up because it looks so perfectly planned.

  • Nice shot, PoPs. Do you mind me telling the folks that’s 16th & V?

      Thanks, updated with address!

Have you checked out the garden at 4th & Varnum NW? It changes often and is always beautiful.

what is that purple flowering thingie by the fence? It’s really gorgeous..

It looks like an azalea, as that’s what’s blooming now…

Ergo, walk across as many yards as you can. There’s no telling what beautiful things will pop up. (PoP up?)

I lived next door to this house for a while and the back garden and deck are very nice, too. The owners are two of the nicest people in the neighborhood, too.

  • Columbia Heights Boy

I’ve always been jealous of this garden and several others along 16th.

On a hot DC day in August I’d still be tempted to walk across that yard – just to take a quick dip in their pond.

    • ah

I wonder why the fence didn’t do the the trick.

Or maybe they installed it after someone had your bright idea.
