Dear PoP – What’s Going on with the Old Cluck U Chicken Space on Georgia Ave?

“Dear PoP,

I saw some workers repainting the former Cluck-U Chicken space at Georgia and Columbia. And the for-sale sign is gone. Do you know what is going in there?”

This is of course the Cluck U that had the famous mural which was painted over. Looks like it’s gonna be a nail salon and spa.  I’m also gonna have to file this under – it’s better than a vacant storefront…

we’re delighted by the new option for spaing. Do they still serve chicken wings?

I used to LOOOOVE that Cluck-U. we used to bribe them to bring us wings on NFL Sundays in the fall [we lived in tenleytown] my mouth is still on fire

By spa, I hope they serve prosecco and tea sandwiches. I doubt it. I would settle for chicken wings and a Mickey’s big mouth.

Big disappointment. We were hoping for a halfway decent food option. They have a giant walk-in fridge in the back that’s basically going to be going to waste.

I’d love to see an economic analysis on the $$ spent every year in DC and PG County on fingernail beautification. It must be huge given the number of nail salons out there…

I was just noticing how many nail salons we have in Northern VA. Every shopping center has one! I only go to those places for eyebrow waxings, and it always surprises me how many manicure/pedicure customers they have, since I don’t know a single person who gets such services.

    @ Bloomin Res: DITTO!!!

You’d think that a location just a few doors down from a major research university would attract something better than yet another nail shop.

The nail spot is just temporary. Happens all the time: beauty shop opens for a little bit until a long term business opens. It happened on the corner of 15th and U. Typical comm real estate move. Some foodie place will open there in a year. Go go JoJo Avenue!
