The Craigslist ad says:

New Amsterdam Apartments is in the heart of DC, close to shopping, schools and the Adams Morgan area.

Electronic Controlled accces, On-site parking , on Bus and Metro lines, Modern kitchens,dishwasher/disposal/frost-free refrigerator.

Laundry Faclities on -site,Wall to Wall carpet, Spacious floorplans, and SOOOO MUCH MORE!”

Does $1400 sound reasonable for this 1 bedroom?

  • Ward One Resident

Really? What is up with the “close to Adams Morgan” descriptors in the past few apartments. This is as much in the heart of Columbia Heights as the one the other day was in the heart of Cleveland Park…sheesh…at least this one is in the same ward.

  • BungieBoy

I lived a block and a half from here for 2+ years. I wouldn’t live there for anywhere *near* $1400. We always heard gunshots coming from that direction…. when they weren’t coming from our own street, that is!

  • Nowhere near reasonable. Controlled access doesn’t help when people prop the door open, and I would question the quality of any updates done to the building. That’s not the safe end of that block, either.

  • Rock Creek

Sure, but guys, let’s not snap to judgment without finding out the details of the “SOOOO MUCH MORE!”

  • Isotopor

Are we not yet at a point in general living standards when a refrigerator is assumed to be of the “frost-free” variety?

I always thought the New Amsterdam was Section 8 housing. Live and learn.

    nooooooo way

  • not even close, although it wouldn’t surprise me if someone rented it.

  • Petworthian

    Wall to wall blech.

  • Jon

    not a good deal

It’s a ridiculous price for that apartment in that neighborhood. But I agree with ShawGuy: I bet it gets rented fairly quickly by someone who hasn’t done their homework.
