The Canadians Are Really Getting Psyched for the Winter Olympics

Just noticed this big countdown sign in front of their embassy located at 501 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. And actually the whole building is pretty sweet. But are there any other winter Olympic fanatics out there? I seem to recall some folks said they too were psyched in a random reader rant and/or revel. If so, what’s your favorite event?

Definitely looking forward to hockey! I love the (slightly) bigger rinks, game seems a tiny bit…freer maybe? Not sure the right description, but I love it.

Can’t wait to see snowboarding, and I def love the luge and skeleton. Curling! Watched the X-games this weekend – did anyone see Shaun White’s major wipeout during his practice run? Holy crap I don’t know how he got up after that.

Hockey is always a favorite – I think I’ll watch Miracle to get in the mood :)

I can’t WAIT for the olympics to start!

Completely love the Winter Olympics. That time countdown sign was inaugurated with 100 days to go with a Fefe Dobson concert on the sidewalk in front of the timer.

And now that both my home and my office have been pictured on PoP, I guess I can stop reading :>

I’m pretty excited. I’m a big hockey fan and I’m really looking forward to watching that, but I also really like the downhill skiing, bobsled, luge, ski jumping, speed skating… oh hell, and figure skating. Not afraid to admit it.

    Winter Olympics > Summer Olympics

Hockey, downhill skiing, ski jumping, bobsledding, luge/skeleton, hell I’ll even watch a little curling!

@rk…they are playing on NHL-sized rinks this year, not international rinks.

@Mal…he was about 3″ away from being carried off in an ambulance! Very lucky on that one!

  • Short Track Speed Skating!

    Don’t miss it!

I work right next door to the canadian embassy – I’ll have to walk over and see the countdown clock!! Yeah Canada!

I might quit my job so the Olympics can have my undivided attention. That’s how much I love the Olympics…and how much I hate my job.

Friends are hosting a kick-off party here in the East Bay for the opening ceremonies–and hoping we can get a feed to Canadian TV coverage–otherwise we’ll have to make do with NBC. At an all-Canuck gathering the other night, several people showed up in red Olympic jerseys and wore their mittens with pride! Wish I could be in Vancouver…
