This is for Bogfrog: I’ll reask the question – In the hierarchy of roof decks, balconies, and porches which reigns supreme?

I’m a personal fan of the widows watch…although any edifice that provides an elevated vantage from which one can enjoy a hangover-garnished morning cocktail on a painfully bright morning is splendid.

That is one sweet roof deck. Although I have never had the pleasure of owning one, I would think that they are perhaps superior to the balcony and porch as they would get sun for more hours of the day. Of course it would also depend on if the aforementioned roof deck had any kind of protection from the elements.

what’s a widow watch? Is that like a widow’s walk? and how do you get up there, anyway (assuming the hangover has left you feeling slightly dizzy)?

  • Flipflopirate

It is indeed a widows walk… (I attribute the confusion to my “morning fog”) and generally they are accessed from the master bedroom, common hallway, or attic.

I still say a porch is better – how else can you talk to your neighbors as they pass by?
