“Dear PoPville,

Around 8:30 last night I witnessed a terrible accident in the parking lot of Yes! on 12th Street. A car sped through the parking lot and hit a parked car and a brick wall. Everyone in the market came out — there were probably about 20 people out there. I was almost hit by the car so saw my life flash before my eyes and was in a bit of a shock to be honest! Both cars were absolutely totaled. It seemed like the driver had a medical emergency or something and lost control of the car. I hope they are OK.”

Anyone else hear about this, I didn’t see anything from MPD or DCFD.

Wow. That is some scary sh*t. Glad you and everybody else is ok. Did the car accelerate from a stop in the parking lot, or swerve into the parking lot from the road?
    .
FWIW I once saw a dump truck lose its breaks in the middle of turning off of a highway exit ramp onto a major urban street at high speed (this was outside of Philadelphia, I was on the sidewalk about 100f eet away waiting for a bus). It was terrifying. The guy did exactly the right thing, though – he plowed into a parking lot, totaled about 10 unoccupied cars, which successfully brought the truck to a stop despite no brakes, all without striking obviously-occupied cars in traffic or people attempting to cross the street. Obviously totaling 10 cars ain’t good, but it was by far the least bad of many bad outcomes.

  • Coincidence that it was wine Wednesday at Yes!? I kid, i kid, I hope everyone is ok.
