Ed. Note: Get your Christmas Trees out by Jan. 8th:

“Holiday trees and greenery will be picked up between December 26 and January 8. Please do not put the trees in plastic or cloth bags. Trees collected between December 26 and January 8 will be chipped and composted.

Any trees not collected by January 8 will be picked up as space in the trash trucks allow over the following weeks.”

  • No. Christmas is a twelve day feast (as the song says). Starts on Christmas 12/15 and concludes on Epiphany in early January. The commercial hullabaloo around Christmas has long been out of sync with the actual feast dates. It is still Christmas ;^) So enjoy. I still send cards during this time and did not put up the tree until Christmas Day.

  • Thank you, Bruno! Everyone knows “the Twelve Days of Christmas,” but don’t seem to realize that it starts on December 25, and concludes with the Epiphany on January 6.

So yes, it is still Christmas, even if WASH-FM has stopped playing Christmas music!

  • If you are Puerto Rican, Christmas is still celebrated through the middle of January. On the 6th is Dia de los Reyes (3 Kings Day), and afterwards is Las Octavitas – for 8 days.

So we will take our tree down and decorations next week – it is still not over for us!
