  • “Lazy Susan.״

  • Dark and dingy, though very well-located.

  • “Architect designed” – LOL

  • Does it have any windows at all?

  • Outdated photos (5 years old!). I wonder what’s changed since then…

  • Beautiful, large apartment perfect for 1 person or a couple in a great neighborhood. I wish my lease was up now so I could rent it!

  • Hey, this is my apartment. The comments have been eye-opening. These photos were taken at night. There is a window and a glass door in the living room and a glass door in the bedroom. The reason I’m using old photos is because I like how that particular tenant decorated the apartment. Nothing has changed since then. Obviously I need some better photos!

    • Don’t feel bad. Real estate photos & ads always draw snark here. It’s a sport. But seriously is the lazy susan built in somehow?

    • Yep — any place will look better when photographed in the daytime, and since basement apartments have such a huge range as far as light, it’s of particular concern to potential tenants.
For what it’s worth… I think $1800/month may be somewhat ambitious for this unit, given that it’s an English basement. I rented out my 1BR/1BA condo about 1-2 blocks away — an east-facing 4th-floor unit in a building with an elevator — for $1725/month + utilities at the end of September.
Also, I see in the “headline” of the actual listing that utilities are included in the rent, but in the text that was reproduced here, only the cable TV and Internet are mentioned.

  • Manamana – yes, the “lazy susan” is built in. There is a corner cabinet under the counter between the refrigerator and the stove. There is built in shelving that turns so it has a lot of storage.

  • textdoc – all utilities are included. I will fix the text, thanks.

  • are their single people really paying $1800/month in rent? i ask as a single person who wants to live alone in a 1 bedroom. just…yeesh. that’s a lot of money to pay in rent.

  • I’ve learned that when a listing says “architect-designed” that it is an excuse for things not looking that great.
