  • Wow. Depressing. Will it go for that price?

  • 343 sq feet for a 2 bedrom? Washer in the kitchen? No.

  • The square footage is probably an error. The space is small, though. For a basement, it’s still high.

  • This looks to be a 1BR and they are trying to count the living area as another bedroom. Lame-o.
I had friends who split up a basement apartment in Dupont in this manner during grad school. It sucked for them.

    • It’s hard to tell from the few (and terrible) photos, but this might be a legit 2-bedroom where one of the bedrooms opens to a ventilation shaft or something (if that actually counts as a window for egress purposes).
A friend of mine lives in a non-basement 2BR/1BA in what I imagine is a similar rowhouse (same block, but opposite side of the street). Although I haven’t seen the second bedroom (the door is kept closed during parties), it’s definitely a separate bedroom, not a living room pretending to be a bedroom.

  • Photos taken by a naked mole rat? And Berber carpet is NEVER a selling point.

  • cute + basement + berber carpet = $2,300. That’s one way to live your life and spend your money.

  • Sadly though, it’s pretty hard to find a 2 bedroom in NW for under $2400. They exist, but most I see are priced way above this.

    • There are a kazillion 2 bedroom apts in NW that go for under $2400. Truxton Circle (a friend of mine has a renovated 2-BR apt here for $1600), Bloomingdale, Petworth, Brightwood / Park, Takoma etc.

  • Ugh depressing and gross. Even if the square footage is a mistake and it’s a decent size, this is still a bad idea (berber carpet? belch). Great neighborhood, but for that price I think you can still get a basement that’s less hideous/find a room in a nice group house.
