  • Put the fridge in the kitchen, or in the dining room, but please not in both!

  • that was the first thing i notice too, very strange

  • … is there a window in one of the rooms to another room? what is that?

    • I think that’s the bedroom, and I think that also means that this unit doesn’t actually qualify as a one-bedroom, but rather as a “junior” one-bedroom — I think it has to have a window to the outside to qualify as a bedroom.
It looks as though at some point the building’s back porches were enclosed as “sun rooms”… but in this case, the one and only bedroom was in the original part of the building, and no one knocked down the wall to simply make it a larger room with a window to the outside.
Admittedly, I think that kind of wall-knocking-down is expensive, so I can see why they might not have opted for it… but without it, the end result doesn’t seem very satisfactory.

  • That house has a few rough blocks surrounding it

Don’t know how that area is now, but it used to be pretty rough. Had a friend that lived in a 4 unit building back in there in like 2007 time frame. It’s actually a good location within walking distance of all the new stuff at the Metro stop. The subsidized housing at RIA and 13th (the yellow brick buildings) has quite a reputation. I’d say this is a good deal, it offers affordable rent in an area with increasing amenities. I would just be careful walking home at night and never walk through the subsidized complex.
