Wind power provider?

“I’ve been sourcing my electricity from Clean Currents for the last year or so, but earlier this month they went out of business. I’d like to transfer my business to a new alternative provider but am not sure who to go with.

Do you use a wind/solar energy provider? If so, which one do you use and do you like them?”

Girl Scout Cookies!

“Does anyone happen to know where one could buy Girl Scout cookies around DC? I wasn’t lucky enough to sign up for cookies at my workplace and now I’m seeing boxes of cookies being delivered to everyone at the office and am supremely envious! Please tell me I haven’t missed the chance!!”

  • We use NextEra energy services, but I’m not seeing an option to sign up for our current plan, which is 100% wind…

    • Unfortunately, NextEra stopped offering 100% wind in DC. It’s too bad, because they were really cheap. Since I was unable to renew with them this year, I switched to Ethical Electric. Washington Gas Energy Services offers 100% wind electricity in DC, now as well. They also offer 100% carbon offset natural gas, if you’re interested in reducing your carbon footprint even more. To get it you have to switch your gas provider from Washington Gas to Washington Gas Energy Service, which seems weird to me.

  • Girl Scouts will be selling cookies at Annie’s Hardware at 1240 Upshur, NW, on Saturday and Sunday. Not sure of the exact hours, but probably noonish to 3ish or so?

Aww man, I read the headline as “White Power and Girl Scout Cookies” and thought this would be a far more entertaining Dear PoP letter.

    • Yesterday I had trouble posting. I got a message saying that this was because of spam filters and that I should contact the site administrator to get added to the White list. “White” was capitalized, and, as an African-American, I have to admit to being taken aback by this. I’m not gonna ask to be put on nobody’s White list! It took awhile before I chuckled, and enjoyed the with the Angela Davis and Shirley Chisholm murals. while I calmed myself down.

  • Girl Scout cookies were being sold in Columbia Heights this past Saturday outside of the Giant and also outside of Z burger. I bought some!

  • We use Ethical Electric. I admit I haven’t put in the effort to fully understand our energy bill, so while I don’t have any complaints I have no idea if it’s significantly more expensive than it would be otherwise.

  • Here’s a list of all providers of Wind Energy (and/or Clean energy) for the DC area:

    Thanks for supporting Wind!

  • I’ve been looking into clean energy too, particularly wind power. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
