So Did Anyone Get a Free Taxi Ride on Halloween? SoberRides Reports over 300 Given

Every time we post about free taxi rides from SoberRides over holidays like Halloween, St. Patrick’s Day, etc. many commenters write that it is impossible to get a ride. SoberRides follow ups:

“I wanted to let you know the program provided over 300 free cabs last night [Halloween], nearly twice the amount as last year. A ride was given every 70 seconds on average.”

So did anyone attempt to use the free taxi ride on Halloween? If so, did it work for you?

  • Make sure you note your social class so Eric can start his rant on ” classism” here too.

Also – Ive used sober ride successfully in the past – but the drivers are NOT going to wait one second for you so be ready to roll when they get there.

    • Come on, that’s kind of uncalled for. I have no idea who Eric is, but he clearly has strong opinions, and was expressing them–as were you, and as were several other commenters who had other opinions. To me, that string of comments on the other thread weren’t one person’s rant, but a spirited debate among several people who had strong differing opinions. People can disagree respectfully; no need to snipe at anyone personally, or call them out on an entirely unrelated discussion thread.

  • It should be called Drunkride. Or, Soberdriver. The rider’s drunk, the driver’s not.

  • So I called and got a hold of a dispatcher. They wouldn’t send a cab to a residence… Not like I had a car to drunk drive in anyways, but the message here seems unclear: you can avoid drunk driving, so long as you’re not getting drunk in a house.

    • Or if you got drunk at a bar and then walked a friend home to their residence to be safer. Looks like the only thing they were interested in protecting was their free promotional potential.

    • That’s crazy. Isn’t Halloween all about the house parties?

  • It never works. I am always disappointed.

  • I’m glad I’m not the girl in the picture illustrating this post.
