More Info on Maple’s Expansion in Columbia Heights – 2nd floor Seating, Reservations, and an Outdoor Patio Coming this Spring

From the owners of Maple:

“Yes, indeed, as you said, Maple is expanding into the former Columbia Heights Coffee space next door. We’ve lived in the neighborhood for about eight years, and we, too, were sad to see CH coffee leave. They were great neighbors and the nicest people. We are in the beginning stages of planning the expansion, so we don’t have a lot of details yet. Our indoor seating capacity will about double, with seating on the ground floor as well as a second-floor space that can also be used for private events. The increased seating will enable us to take reservations. We will also create an outdoor patio with seating in the backyard. Our kitchen will undergo a much-needed expansion as well. We are looking at a spring opening for the expansion.

  • Fantastic News. I love this place but getting a table is always next to impossible.

  • I love Maple and have also always loved the cozy intimate space. When I show up by 6 (even on the weekends), I can always get a table. Any later and you gotta wait. I hope the expansion still keeps the space homey and intimate. I have often remarked that Maple is one of the few places in this city that feels neighborhoody, and not like a big cavernous, sprawling, impersonal restaurant. So, I really hope the “vibe” remains the same, despite the increased size.

  • Although I was also very saddened by the closing of Columbia Heights Coffee, I’m very happy to hear that an existing business on 11th is expanding! Cheers to wonderful food, great service, and more space!
