Next up in awesome playground/rec center renovations – Takoma Park:

“The concept for the new place space at Takoma creates new and exciting opportunities for play and takes advantage of some of the natural topography on the site. New features include a small splash park, skate spot, and area for manipulative play—play using moveable blocks or other structures. The existing play equipment will also be replaced, and new seating and shade features will be added.”

  • Looks great! It would be great if DPR could add a dog park to the Takoma Rec area next.

    • They should add a dog park, but not near a playground for children. Inevitably the people bringing their dogs to the park will let their dogs go anywhere in the area (I’ve seen this SO many times) and that many children and dogs don’t mix.

  • DPR does such a good job with their park ideas. There are more fantastic local parks in DC than anywhere I’ve ever lived. Local ice skating parks, local splash parks, fabulous playgrounds. Thank you DC Parks and Rec for being so creative with how you design spaces! I’m recently a parent and never realized what an important amenity these parks are until now, and it seems like DPR gets only criticism for not getting the parks built fast enough or maintained to a high enough standard.

I for one am a well satisfied customer!
