Your Afternoon Animal Fix – Rest in Peace

Julius on fourth of july

“Our french mastiff, Julius, looking very patriotic on the Fourth of July in Bloomingdale. I meant to submit this photo earlier. Julius recently passed away, so I guess now is as good a time as any.”

“This is Walter Rabbit, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge unexpectedly this morning. We’ll miss his funny hops and his love of chewing apartment walls.”

“This is Sammy previously of Petworth. He passed away in mid July and is missed terribly by the people and other cats in his life.”

As sad as this particular Animal Fix is, it makes me happy to see three pets who were loved so much by their people. RIP Sammy, Walter & Julius.

Walter, I’ve enjoyed your cute bunny nose and reading about you on the internet. I never got to meet you, but you stole my heart and I will miss you.

  • RIP to all your furry friends. Pets truly become part of the family and it is heartbreaking when they pass away.

  • My black short hair Milo died in February and I am still talking out loud to him.

  • I want to go home and hug my pup immediately.

  • I am so happy that you dedicated a post to these great animals that came from such loving homes.

I had the privilege of knowing the charming gentleman that was Julius the French Mastiff. He had such a great heart and lived such a happy life thanks to his amazing Mommy and Daddy. We will miss good ole’ Julius, his loving personality, and everlasting supply of slobber. <3

    RIP big guy!

  • So sad! But better to have loved and lost, than to have never loved at all.

  • Condolences to all on the passing of their beloved pets.

So sorry for the loss of your pets. Our little girl Alee died unexpectedly a couple weeks ago and her absence is weighing heavy on us (including her other canine pack members), so I understand how very much the loss can hurt. They are all beautiful creatures. Although we now live in Florida, Alee spent a good portion of her life there in Petworth, so I’m sure her little spirit is with all these other pets over the rainbow bridge. Peace.

  • Peace to these beautiful animals and the people who loved them.

  • bfinpetworth: Sorry to hear about Alee! I hope Florida is treating you all well. We miss you in the neighborhood! – Sara

  • sending snuggles and sniffs to Walter’s parents.

  • This is such a great post. RIP Julius, Walter and Sammy.

  • My sympathies to all of you who lost your four-legged friends……they were loved

  • All adorable pets. We have 2 cats and two rabbits (and a hamster that may or may not be evil). So, props to Prince for including Bunnies in the Pet of the Day 🙂

  • I hope you all find comfort during this difficult time in knowing your loved pets are now at peace.

  • This was such a great shout-out today. My husband Joe and I miss Sammy so much. Having some local love today meant a lot. Thanks to POP and to our cousin Natalie for getting Sammy on the wall. We miss him so freaking much. RIP Sammy. And much love to Julius’ and Walter’s families.

  • My condolences to all of you. I dread the day I will have to say goodbye to my fur kids 🙁
