Where to get cool lawn/garden statuary?

I would love to get a smallish, but substantial, piece of lawn/garden statuary, but don’t know where to look. I’m not looking for something plastic or overly kitschy, but rather something stone or concrete and classy/sculptural. I have a car and am willing to make a day trip to find something nice. Any ideas?

  • I know that American Plant (7405 River Rd, Bethesda, MD 20817… not their other location) has a pretty decent selection. But… it is still smallish. Found them to be pricey too, but that might just be sticker shock from when I was looking for one of those japanese stone lanterns.

When I was looking for gargoyles to adorn our roof I found hundreds of statuary pieces on

If you want something more local though check out the Merrifield Garden centers out in VA. There are a couple, and one has a much bigger selection than the other, although I can’t recall which one it was but I believe it’s the Fairfax one.

  • Greenfront in Farmville, VA has a ton of outdoor sculptures like what you’re describing (in addition to several warehouses with furniture).

  • Hi–I’d agree with the first post–American Plant on River Road at the Beltway has a nice selection. I have also sometimes found nice things at GoodWood on U street. If you want to look online I like Stone Forest–they have great stuff.
    Good luck!
