1340 U St, NW
Back in Jan. 2010, Bistro La Bonne opened up in the former Axis space at 1340 U St, NW. You can see their menu here. And now they’re expanding:
“…make a new opening for a stair to the second floor to expand the occupancy of the existing restaurant and increase the seating capacity from 99 to 141.”
Nice. Looking forward to see how it turns out.

I know cycling has problems, but the crackdown on juicing has gone too far.
All I know is I am tired of seeing every renovation is just a gut job, then a unoriginal...
I love Bacio pizza in Bloomingdale! They don't offer delivery but great neighborhood...
311? I think I found the flower thief. Suspect is helmeted male, hopped up on apple...
I tried their kabob last weekend, it was pretty good and a lot of food for the price....
I like the vibe as it is. I don’t think the expanded capacity is necessary. That said, I do love this place. But it ain’t usually packed even on weekend nights
I too have never seen the place packed. That said, when $15 gets you a glass of wine/beer, a pot of mussels, and an abundance of french fries at happy hour, the place should be!
Wait, when did they take that GRAND OPENING sign down?? It was there a ridiculously long time.
Hahaha, I can’t believe I didn’t notice that!!

Don’t really see the expansion as necessary since I’ve never seen the place packed and never had trouble getting a table. Guess expansion can be seen as a good sign since it means business is good enough to justify. Love the food, love the beer and wine…damn, I think I know where I’m going for dinner tonight…
It is mainly for large parties so they don’t have to use up the lower level for a big party.
I’m shocked. The owners and waitstaff at BlB are ridiculously surly. They don’t let walk-in’s sit down if there are any reservations on the books–even if the place is totally empty.
