Jonathan’s Gourmet space Becoming “G Street Foods” on 19th Street in Dupont
More 19th Street, NW news. Thanks to @caitdouglas for sending word. Jonathan’s Gourmet closed back in Aug. 2011 at 1120 19th Street, NW. I spoke with some workers a few weeks ago who said G Street Foods would be a buffet and deli style lunch spot. We’ll revisit when they open.
Update: A commenter believes it could be the same folks behind this G Street Food:
“The restaurant offers foods from around the globe: breakfasts, lunches, desserts and breads inspired by the food found at carts, stands and stalls lining the streets and tucked into the corners of cities and towns worldwide. Montreal-style bagels, Vietnamese Banh Mi sandwiches, noodle soups from Southeast Asia and flat breads and salads from the Middle East are just some examples of the world’s street fare that are featured on the G Street Food menu.”

G Street foods, actually on the 1700 block of G Street NW, is quality. Excellent banh mi and halal lamb platters, and amazing breakfast. No buffet involved. Very nice people run that place too!
Echoing everyone else: the existing G Street Food is fantastic. It’s my “I’m having a crazy week and I want something extra-delicious for lunch/breakfast” spot. Kudos if they’re expanding, they’ve earned it in my book.
I agree with other commenters – the G St. Foods on the 1700 block of G NW is great.
G Street Food is great, and i’m glad to see them succeed and expand. Huge fan of almost everything they do. They are thoughtful with their ingredients, and have some excellent salad choices. Dupont will be pleased to meet them.
g street food is excellent! really tasty and healthy. can’t wait till the opening!
