Your Afternoon Animal Fix

If you have any fun or interesting animal/pet photos please shoot me an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say the name of your pet and what neighborhood you’re from or upload to the PoPville flickr pool with your pets name and neighborhood. I can’t guarantee I’ll get them all posted but I’ll do my best.

“Missy on the Metro! From Dupont Circle (trip was from Fort Totten to Dupont Circle- red line) :-D”

Ed. Note: From WMATA:

“Service animals that assist people with disabilities are the only animals permitted to ride unconfined on Metrorail and Metrobus. However, a pet may be transported on Metrorail and Metrobus, provided it is carried aboard in a secure container from which it cannot escape.”

“Plouffey in Woodley Park”

“This is Zoey from Logan Circle.”

  • Some very good looking pups!

  • I’m glad you posted the information about pets — of course, via carrier — aboard Metrorail/Metrobus. I never knew this information before. I thought you could only bring on service animals. I just adopted a cat and I do not have a car. (Nor do I know how to drive. Yeah, I’m an adult who can’t drive.) It’s good to know, goodness forbid I need to make an emergency trip to the vet.

  • I guess Missy’s owner thinks that the rule only applies to other dogowners.

    • Missy’s owner here!
Missy was perfectly “secure” and could not “escape” in that duffel bag that is on my lap. Of course I let her head peek out :-D.

    • Zaniac, I agree with you. To me, “a secure container from which it cannot escape” means a fully zipped/closed carrier, not a bag from which an animal can stick out its head. People seem to interpret the rules however they chose, though.

FWIW, I have travelled with my dog on the Metro and/or on a bus probably 2-3 dozen times; each time he was fully zipped into his carrier. It really is nice to be able to transport him that way and is one of the benefits of having a small dog!

  • If the dog can fully stick out his head, then it can escape. Metro rules don’t apply to Britt apparently.

  • Stop bullying that cute pup’s mama! Free Missy!!! (but not on metro, that would be against the rules 😉 ).

Wait, maybe you’re all right… Missy looks VERY threatening. haha

  • As soon as I saw that picture I knew this was going to turn from a “cute animals” thread to a “the rules don’t apply to some people” thread.

Who cares if Britt should or should not have let Missy take a peek. She did, Missy is cute and I am sure Britt kept her fully secure the whole time.

Let’s get back to bashing metro (in different thread) and the cuteness of the animals (this thread). 🙂

  • This is a message thread about cute pets. Are you people so miserable and unhappy that you have to post rude snide comments about someone you don’t even know? You all must have NEVER broken any rule, EVER, to feel justified in pointing out other people’s mistakes. Of course, if you are completely morally clean since your birth, then feel free to heave stones. Personally, I’d rather “ooooooooh” and “aaaaaaaah” about cute pets.
