You can talk about whatever is on your mind – quality of life issues, a beautiful tree you spotted, scuttlebutt, or any random questions/thoughts you may have. I’ll open this thread every Monday and Friday. So anything good happen to you this weekend?

  • Rave: birthday today!!!
Double rave: celebrated early with that man o’ mine and he gave me a wonderful and thoughtful gift that was quite unexpected
Triple rave: getting birthday pizza tonight at Red Rocks … ooooh, come to mama hot cheese and sauce.

  • Rave: Walking to a good Thai restaurant right across the street form my house.

Rave: Unexpected Check in the mail with plenty of zeros on it.

Rant: Why is the redevelopment plan on GA Avenue moving so slowly? Its like the street is stuck in the late 80s, it would be nice to have options [that I can walk to] for good food, coffee, and culture.

  • Rant: Heard that it would only tak $8 Billion to create a country wide electric car infrastructure ( service / battery power stations ). Enough so you can travel anywhere in the whole country continously on 100% electric power.

Rant: Wall Street employees recieved 124 billion in bonuses this christmas season.

Rant: They are getting more tax cuts – we get shafted and keep pretending that voting matters.

    • on rant#1: I heard that same report and was excited by that (relatively) low number as well. But I believe that was the cost to establish travel *corridors* for electric vehicles. In other words, i-95, i-10, etc. So it wouldn’t be an infrastructure that would allow you to go anywhere, strictly speaking…

Don’t get me wrong, though! I love it and I see it as a giant step (if/when it happens) towards weening ourselves off the Big Oil teat!

Rave: Great weekend with the Baltimore boyfriend.

Rave-rave-rave: Six days til I go home for the holidays 🙂

  • This morning while we were taking our dogs for a walk we passed the familiar scene of the specially equipped school bus loading a wheelchair bound disabled child onto the ramp. While the bus driver and the child’s mother were struggling in the cold with the ramp, a driver behind them decided to blow the horn for taking too long. I’ve never come closer to putting a brick through someone’s windshield in my life.

    • When I moved to DC I was– almost quite literally– blown away by how frequently people lay on their horns around here. Even if THEY choose not to stop for pedestrians, bikers, other cars, stop signs, or lights about to turn red, they should not get bent out of shape when the driver ahead of them does so!

  • Rave: The boarded-up eyesore at the end of my block, the owners of which I cursed daily for their BS “for sale” sign, has finally sold after more than a decade of sitting vacant.

Rant: Too much work, not enough hours in the day, never enough sleep.

  • Rant: Roseboro killed Okorie because Okorie ratted out Foreman who killed Neil. It’s bad enough that the Times said that Okorie’s friends thought he was a snitch so they killed him. What’s worse is that the Times is reporting that “[Roseboro] was arrested again in Maryland in August 2009 for carrying a handgun. In each case, prosecutors declined to pursue the charges.” These kids literally get away with carrying guns and ammo, killing, and more, and the leaders in DC just tolerate and incubate and let them get away scot-free, placing them back in NW DC to kill again. Is this approach really part of their grand plan for One City?

  • Rave: American Ice Company opens Wednesday (allegedly)

Rant: As long as the bbq is at least mediocre and they have a few good beers, this place will drain my wallet weekly.

    Rave: Fun weekend in NYC!

    Rant: Sleep deprivation.

Rave: Heading home for Christmas on Sunday, it can’t come soon enough!

Rant: Still adjusting to being single and missing my ex…the holidays are making it a little harder. I keep reminding myself that it’s for the best, though.

Gah! Surprise meeting with bossman in an hour.

Rave: Company bash on Saturday was pretty fun (even if I did send bitchy tweets about the last 1/2 hour).

  • Rave: Got to see a friend’s new appartment and his great view overlooking Kalorama with the church spires of Adams Morgan in the distance.

    Rant: insomnia
Rant2: rainy weather and shoes with holes in them, bad combination.

  • Rave: Won passes to see a screening of “Tron Legacy”.

Rave: Had a nice time at my boyfriend’s holiday office party at the Air & Space Museum. It was nice to see the exhibits without the profusion of tourists.

Rant: The Washington Capitals’ six-game slide, including being shut out a couple of times. Need more be said?

I’m doubling up on Anonymous 12:21’s rant about the Wall Street and their tax breaks. Thanks, Republicans, for holding the middle class and unemployed hostage so your buddies could continue to rape the country.

  • Rave: Happiness is having a dog who poops on command, especially when it is cold and snowy.

    Rant: I have the sniffles.

    • Envious of your well trained dog!

    • What’s the poop command?

My rave: – my pup is starting to learn to ring a doorbell to be let out.

Rant: She is scared of wind, cold, trucks, buses, blowing leaves and most everything else on the street and would prefer to pee in the kitchen.

      • They say you should use a word from a foriegn lanuage, something that’s not used in everyday speech (which conjures up some funny images).

My dogs are reverting back to their puppyish ways and going in the house nearly every day. I’m at my wit’s end! I can’t get the bigger/older one to go in his crate so retraining them is not an option.
