The Craiglist ad says:

– Tile floor – Living room – Dining room
– Breakfast nook – Dishwasher – Refrigerator
– Stove/Oven – Microwave – Washer

I’m very curious to know what you guys think because I think the price seems really good for a 2 bedroom with parking. Or do you think it is too far from the metro? The 2 bed/1.5bath with parking is going for $1585.

  • I ride by here on my bike commute to/from college park. The location is not so good. The only thing you can walk to is a small shopping center, metro is a long inconvenient walk away, and worst of all, you can frequently smell the dump which is just down the hill and to the north.

  • I seem to remember that a lot of Catholic University students live in those apartments in that area. Seems like it would be good for CUA students (perhaps some employees) but otherwise not really convenient to a whole lot of stuff.(In fairness I haven’t been through there in years but that’s how I remember it.)

  • what is going on under the window in that picture? It looks disgusting…

  • For two CUA grad students, I’d say that’s a decent deal. Can walk through campus to the Metro and Colonel Brooks Tavern.

  • Good deal for anyone with some sort of CUA affiliation.

I can’t imagine wanting to rent in that spot otherwise.

  • I used to live in these apartments in 2000/2001, the picture shows the kitchens were renovated. It was cheap place to live, the apt itself was fine, never had an issue w/ mgmt (not sure if it is the same company now). The walk to the metro is down a very large hill (up coming home), probably only about 10-15 min. Not the safest area but I never had any issues w/ crime.

  • I’ve often wondering about these apartments because they look like they might be safe and affordable and are in such an out of the way location, if I wasn’t driving back to Petworth from Home Depot/friends in NE I never would have known they existed.

  • In no way is that Brookland. Hawaii Ave ain’t the sweetest of spots.

  • Bad deal. I pay the same for a huge, historic 2 bedroom with an enormous backyard in Brookland proper.
