Freaky Porch Decoration

This headless/torso-less child just creeped the hell out of me. I don’t even know if something was planted in here if it would be any less creepy…

  • Yeah, I’ve passed by this a couple of times. I can’t remember if it’s in Mount Pleasant or Adams Morgan, but I think it’s somewhere around there. It always freaked me out a little, too.

  • Ever wonder what you give that serial child killer who has everything on your Christmas list?

  • Remember that Halloween is at the end of the corner. It really looks like a Halloween decoration.

  • I’ve been walking by this thing every day for a year and it still makes me jump every now and then. I was thinking just the other day that it needed to be featured on PoP–what timing. It’s on Lanier around Quarry (also known as two streets you’ve never heard of).

  • Half-related to what Queen of Fair View said, Lanier actually is a really cool little neighborhood-y street on Halloween (or at least it was in 2008), if you’re looking for a place to bring kids out.

  • For the last 4 years my neighbors on Taylor St had their porch decorated with plastic rabbit statues missing their noses, and the holes in the middle of their faces — it was like Silence of the Bunnies, or Rabbits of the Apocalypse. I always wanted to take a photo, and now they’re gone.

The house across the street has a plastic baby pool in the ground with planters in the shape of plastic ducks and deer, they plant flowers in the summer. There may still be time to document this for posterity’s sake…

  • Creepy planter of the week nominee.

  • Kind of reminds me of the time GOB met Steve Holt in that park where the kid found the severed hand.

  • Bib overalls

  • OK that sort of scares me.

  • There was a kid in those overalls but he dissolved during the bronzing process…

  • ah! that’s my landlord’s house. i have to run by the child ghost pants to drop off rent.
