Random Reader Rant and/or Revel

You can talk about whatever is on your mind – quality of life issues, a beautiful tree you spotted, scuttlebutt, or any random questions/thoughts you may have. I’ll open this thread every Monday and Friday. Anything good happen this week?

  • Rant: There are a lot of crazies on Craigslist replying to my ad seeking a new tenant/roommate.

Rave: I have some INTERESTING unsolicited pictures.

  • Rant: Where the hell does the new circulator actually stop? Or does it really just make one big circle where you cannot get off?

    Rave: 70 degree weather weekend.
Rave 2: PoP for keeping me informed of the neighborhood around me.

  • I feel heels over head somersault down the metro escalator, did anyone spot me?
it was power ranger style, like my shoe exploded!

  • P @ 12:30 and 12:38 pm…I like the first version better… 😉

  • JMW, the new circulator makes very few stops. But look at the circulator website and the maps show exactly where the stops are.

  • Rave: I have a new nephew! Born 2:10 a.m. (Central time) was Benjamin Eugene at a whoppin’ 9lbs 1oz.

Rant: My brother called me at 4:00 a.m. to inform me of this! :oP

  • This is me again, Anonymous 12:46:

Rave #2: I have tickets to the Caps playoff game tomorrow afternoon!!!

  • Rave: Its a beautiful day today

Rave: The work being down on my front yard is getting done quickly, looks great and is reasonably priced!

  • Rant: this week was awful. still reeling from the boyfriend debacle, my roommate is being totally unreasonable about the terms of me moving out (at the end of our lease) which make me dread going home, i broke out in some wierd rash after getting waxed, it rained for days straight, and i have to work both my jobs today.

Rave: Its beautiful outside and my roommate is out of town for the weekend. And I finally picked a grad school which I can afford without loans.

Rant2: Picking said graduate school means I have to move back to VA and which now complicates my search for a new place.

  • Rant: I too had crap week. Spent last weekend with a whiny “friend” from my grad school years who gave me 20 hours notice before showing up in town. He proceeded to be picky and rude for the remainder of the weekend. Wanted to choke him. Early in the week, I got drunk and mouthed off to someone I like a great deal, because I am frustrated that I like him. I then spent the bulk of the week asleep, sick with a stomach bug. Nothing bad has happened yet today, but then it’s not even 2.

Rave: Hopefully peaceful weekend, and good weather. Only 6 days before Mexico.

  • Random question: Has anyone gotten takeout at Chuck & Billy’s on GA Ave? The smoker in the front made me curious when I ran by the other day. Same question on Wa-zo-bia on T and Florida.

  • Rant: I watched someone get fired this week and I wonder if more will. Disturbing.

    Rave: Um, sunshine.

  • Rant: WHY OH WHY is there an entirely NEW CREW of thugs down our block selling drugs when we had almost a whole year without this business? At least we KNEW the old crew, knew where they lived. The new group is full of new people who are newly menacing and just in time for us with new babies to want to be using our front yards for something other than hiding their stash.

Rave: The new baby is just about the most wonderful thing in the entire world. Just wish I didn’t have to fear for her life every time we come home from playgroup.

  • that is just messed up

  • Anon 12:49 – GO CAPS GO!!! I just don’t understand why in a city where you have losing teams – Nats, Redskins, Wizards, that the Caps don’t get much recognition. Plus hockey is awesome. If anyone doubts it, go to a game! (But then again, I’m a Canuck).

  • Rant: Why the heck can’t I land a job that keeps me happily busy – not bored to tears, watching the damn clock s l o w l y click by. Damnit – I need to exercise my brain, not sit on my ass and stare at the walls!!

    Rave: It’s FINALLY getting a bit warmer….

Rant2: I want to go on a vacation – I really really want to travel….but no money due to that damn bathroom remodel we just had to do (good thing too, found one of the floor joists just SEVERED because it was “in the way”!!). sigh

  • anonymous 2:22 – wow is all I am going to say

  • Rave: free Flaming Lips outdoor concert on the Mall Sun

Rant: Need to complain nullified by free Flaming Lips outdoor concert on the Mall Sun

  • Rant: I was awoken at 6:30 am by a jackhammer tearing up the walkway in front of my house in order to lay down a new brick walkway. I tried to go back to sleep but it was SO noisy! After laying in bed, trying to go back to sleep, I lost track of time and was STILL late for work. ARGH!

Rave: I had a nice lunch outside and it completely got rid of my hangover.

  • Rant: Why is it that wherever I go a grocery store or a retail center there is always that slow *** person at the register paying for their stuff. They need their own line because I am impatient and want to yell at them until they cry…..

  • Rave: Day 5 of South Beach Diet and I’m still going strong! And maybe a couple pounds lighter. The true test will be the Happy Hour I’m about to go to. No beer thank you, just a salad for me!

Rave: SUNSHINE!! And a sunny Saturday ahead. Perfect for some Great Falls and photography action.

  • rave: Asylum’s updated website…FANTASTIC JOB!

  • Rant: Walking up 14th St I saw a guy looking at lottery tickets and tossing them as he went — there was a trail of lottery tickets on the sidewalk behind him. I said – you dropped something. He said – I know. And walked on, still looking at lottery tickets and tossing them as he went.

Rave: Walking my dog & saw a guy putting a McDonalds cup in the gutter near a car. I said – there’s a trashcan around the corner. He said – thanks, and took his cup and and his McD bag (which had also been put on the street) into the trashcan. Now why this is a rave I’m not sure!

by the way, I’m not a self appointed litter czar. But I have to say that some of these blog discussions have made me more aware of the need to say something – sometimes.

  • Rave: Saw The Dead this week, medication for my dog that cost $38 at the vet is $8 at Target and spring came back to DC today.

    Rant: None so far
