What’s Your Favorite Bed and Breakfast?

People are frequently writing me emails asking for suggestions on Bed and Breakfast places to have their folks or friends stay at. So I walked past this Adam’s Inn near Adams Morgan of course and it got me thinking about the question again. Has anyone stayed here or had family stay here? But for our neighborhoods of Petworth, Columbia Heights, Mt. Pleasant, Shaw and the rest can you recommend any Bed and Breakfast spots?

  • there’s one on Otis Place NW run by the ANC rep Larry Ray?! I haven’t stayed there since I am local. I have stayed at the Taft Bridge Inn closer to Dupont and can reccommend it.

  • I’ve never stayed in a B&B in town, but I’ve put my parents at the Cardozo Guesthouse (13th and T) in the past. It’s not a Bed and Breakfast (no breakfast, no host) but its a comfortable place to stay with more character than your typical Marriott. It’s a block from the U street metro- and, well, U Street (which I thought would be nice for them, but apparently all the restaurants in the area where “too loud!”). For something with that good of a location though, they have great rates.

Alas, now that we have more than one bedroom, they will stay with us when they come visit…

  • adams inn is great. very friendly, good for kids. the only drawback is the adams morgan noise.

  • My parents stayed in the Kalorama Guest house — I loved it, but they were underwhelmed.
They’ve also stayed in the Brickskellar which is one of the cheapest, but LOUDEST, options.

  • We’ve had guests for my work stay at Adams Inn many times over the years — we really love it. It has a very simple, clean decor which is nice compared to the frou frou lace and flowered wallpaper of many B&Bs (Kalorama Guest House can be a little tired like this).

I saw there’s a new B&B called the Bloomingdale Inn on 1st St NW. It looks great from the website, I’m curious if anyone is familiar with it

  • DC Guest House without a doubt, 1337 10th Street NW. http://www.dcguesthouse.com

  • There’s a mennonite guest house near Carter Baron.

  • My mother hated the Kalorama Guest House

  • I second the DC Guesthouse shoutout. Great location, very neat and unique, etc.

  • I met Adam of the inn and went for a run with him. Very nice guy. I think that the inn was named that before he bought it. Anyway, he’s good peeps.

  • There’s a B&B on upper 14th across the street from the Kingsbury school. It looks nice from the street but I don’t know anyone who has been inside let alone stayed there. Anyone know this place? I have always been curious about it.

  • Anyone ever stay at the Woodley Guest House?
