This is my new favorite (non house number) transom from the U St, NW area.
This is the first one I’ve seen with this type of style.
Which do you like better?
“Dear PoP,
I spotted a great temporary transom make of harvest materials on 8th Street NW between O and N on a small house next to the church.
it’s a great block architecturally speaking and the fruity transom is great!”
This is a great one! I think they had a similar display last year as well. This is probably my favorite non stained glass transom in town.
From the folks behind the new building at 1020 Girard St, NW:
“Thanks to you, your readers and posters we wanted to do a little something special!”
Very cool!
And a reader writes:
“Dear PoP,
I always loved it when you feature sweet transoms on your blog, and now I want in on the action. I JUST bought my first home (found it on a recent GDoN post, no less!) and have a nice clean pane of glass above my front door itching for some color. I’m not at all creative, so I’m wondering — where do you go to get a transom made? Are there pros out there that will do this for you, and about how much can I expect it to cost?
Thanks! Hopefully one day my transom will be sweet enough for PoP. :)”
Congrats on your new home! I once made some recommendations here but the two I’ve corresponded with are:
M. Martingdale – [email protected]
and
For those who’ve had custom transoms made – how much did it cost?
You can see some of my favorite transoms here.
Continuing with the eagle theme…
This is one of the better non house number ones I’ve seen.
One of the best transoms I’ve ever seen from Logan Circle.
I am fortunate for a few things but one of my favorites is the fact that there seems to be a never ending supply of sweet transoms in DC. The other thing I love is that I have a horrible memory so sometimes ones that I’ve seen before seem new to me. These are from the Burleith/Georgetown area. Do you prefer one style over the other?
Another good non house number example. It’s from near U St, NW.
