“Dear PoPville,

You – the fit, handsome, dark haired guy walking around Meridian Hill / Malcolm X Park in the mornings. Me – the one walking my little white dog with big curly red hair you keep making eyes at. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

We danced early in the night at the Baila Social Dance at La Cosecha on 7/10. You had dark hair, and were wearing a black sundress with a red and green floral pattern on it.

I was the dark-haired guy with a beard, wearing a brown button-through sweater polo and cream shorts.

You were forgiving of the fact that I was a complete beginner, and said that it was okay since you were new to it yourself. You joked about how we were the smart ones dressing for how hot it was on the dancefloor. While we were dancing, you said your name was ‘Raj.’ I didn’t think it was the right time to ask for your number, but I should have said that I wanted to keep dancing with you. I was hoping to be able to find you later in the night, however by the time I worked up the nerve you had already left.

If you see this, I’d love to grab a coffee or a drink sometime.

J.”

“Dear PoPville,

Me: ‘USA beat everybody’ t-shirt wearing gal with blue hair and big black glasses.

You: guy rocking the latest navy blue US soccer jersey with a baseball cap and a megawatt smile.

Us: locked eyes outside section 135 at Audi. Celebrated USWNT domination, loved on Girma’s performance and missed Dunn together. Also, we completely ignored my friends.

The connection? Instant. The vibes? Incredible. The hug? Surprising, but excellent. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

To Mr. B — the DC traveler I talked with for hours in NYC

We met in late May, in the middle of the busiest place on earth — NYC — yet somehow, it felt like the city fell away. In the middle of all that noise, we found quiet in each other. For nearly 8 hours, we sat across from each other in the warm hush of a crowded bar, as if the world had decided to quiet down just for us. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

On Monday (June 9) around 8:20pm I was heading back from the gym going up New Hampshire Ave and I asked you if you went to the Paris Paralympics after seeing the red cap mascot key chain on your black backpack. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I was heading back to my apartment today (Monday), running late for a meeting after going to grab lunch between calls. I was walking past Seaton Elementary thinking about the 50 things I need to do when I get back to my computer and not paying much attention to my surroundings as I also had Sabrina Carpenter blasting in my earphones (whoops!).

I looked up at the last second and a man was gesturing between himself and me, and he asked (more…)
