New Restaurant Kikos Chicken Coming to Upper 14th Street

Thanks to a reader for sending the following news:

“Just wanted to let you know about a new restaurant coming in at 14th and Spring Road, just a block away from Red Derby. I live very near there and just noticed the signs yesterday. As you probably know, the new building it’s in has been in process for a while.

The place is called “Kikos Chicken,” and yes, they do have a Web site: http://www.kikoschicken.com/

Unfortunately, they don’t know how to spell, and they think that rotisserie chicken is a “new restaurant concept,” but if it’s good, I’m not gonna care too much about those things, right?”

Chix Gets Liquor License, Will Be Serving Beer and Wine This Saturday

If you haven’t visited Chix, located on 11th St just north of U, you have no more excuses. On Saturday you’ll be able to find:

“two organic wines (one red and one white) from the Chilean Emiliana Natura line (http://www.emiliana.cl/filiales_in/filiales.html), and we will have two organic beers from Clipper City (http://www.ccbeer.com/beerlist/Oxford+Organic+Ales). In addition, we will be serving other Chilean and Argentine wines, the Mexican beer Tecate, and a couple of other Clipper City brews.”

Nice! I love Tecate.

Holy Awesome: A Stuffed Chicken!

Or is that a rooster? Regardless, this is the greatest window decoration I’ve seen in dozens of miles traversed in this fair city. When I first saw it I thought it was a live one it looked so real. I did a quadruple take. Simply super, super cool.

Holy Cow: EatMore Fried Chicken For Sale!

Thanks to an alert reader for sending this listing from Long and Foster.. Arguably the best name for a city restaurant/food may not be around for long. The listing says:

“Rare opportunity – Enormous potential. 4,200 Sq Ft building (C3A) with ongoing carryout. 4 bedrm, 1 bath, and full kitchen apartment upstairs. 100 feet from Metro Station. Across from upcoming high end condo/retail complex.”

And the asking price? A cool $1,000,000.

I suppose you have to sell a lot of fried chicken to come up with that scratch. Do you think it’s a good deal?

Chix on 11th Street in the U Street Neighborhood

I was wondering what this place was. I was most taken by the sign that says “eat responsibly”. That seems like a funny selling point to me. But anyway I was glad to see a post in Counter Intelligence describing the new restaurant in detail. She explains that Chix is “an organic, environmentally conscious rotisserie chicken eat-in and take out place owned by Lukas Umana and Victoria Garcia. Stock is made on site daily, the rice is organic, the chicken comes from their rotisserie, and it’s garnished with onions and cilantro.”

So has anyone checked it out yet?
