“Pollinators like native bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds are essential to healthy ecosystems — and to our food supply — but habitat loss and the spread of non-native plants have made it harder for them to find the food and shelter they need. The good news is that even a small patch of native plantings can make a real difference. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to plan and start a pollinator garden tailored to Zone 7a, including which native plants to prioritize for season-long bloom, how to prepare your soil, and how to design for both beauty and function. We’ll cover what to avoid (invasive ornamentals that crowd out native species) and how your garden connects to broader pollinator conservation across the Mid-Atlantic. Everyone will head home with a native seedling ready to plant. All materials provided.
