June 25, 2013 7:00 pm
Shaw’s Tavern
520 Florida Avenue NW
Cost: $9 in advance

What is art? What is the role of art in society? What’s its purpose?
We’ll also discuss whether art is inherently political, or if it can just be aesthetic, and the conflict between radicalized artists and their funding from bourgeois sources.
Kate Parnell, a DC-based painter and Richmond native with art degrees from Cooper Union and Bard College, will lead this conversation intended for artists and non-artists alike.
Join this conversation about what art IS and what it ISN’T.

All are welcome – young and old, brand new and experienced dancers. No partner, lessons, overalls, or fancy dress needed.”
