“I’m 17. Throughout my life, I have lived in the whole D.C. metropolitan area. Now, I live in Arlington. I came out when I was 15. I always knew that I was gay. As a kid, I played dress up with the girls and loved Barbies. I really wanted to tell people before, but I couldn’t. I finally decided to tell everyone how I really was in the 8th grade because I wanted to start high school as a new me. Telling my Mom was easier than I thought because she always knew. It was hard on my father, though. He took it worse than my Mom did. My friends already knew too, they were just waiting for me to say it.

The Post writes:

“It is possible that no one will ever be charged with the murder of Washington lawyer Robert Wone.

Federal prosecutors realize that, barring a last-minute confession or the discovery of new evidence, Wone’s Aug. 2, 2006, slaying will probably go unsolved. Prosecutors believe that one or more people restrained Wone, sexually assaulted him and stabbed him to death after he went to sleep on a pullout couch in a second-floor guest room at 1509 Swann St. NW.”

From the 2D Listserv:

“Recently, a large number of these robberies (cases where someone is “mugged” on the street, or has an item snatched from their hands) involve Apple iPhones. This ubiquitous, expensive device appeals to criminals because it can be easily reprogrammed, or erased, and sold for quick cash.

We’re seeing folks having phones snatched from their hands as they walk down the street, or taken from tables while sitting at restaurants. Although the vast majority of these offenses do not involve physical harm to the victim, this is a disconcerting trend that deserves attention.

As always, I’m asking folks to be aware of their surroundings, especially while walking down the street and talking on the phone (try and avoid doing that if you are walking alone at night). Do not leave your phone lying on a table while dining out as this may also attract would-be thieves.

Regards,
Commander Matt Klein”

I guess I’m a bit sensitive about stuff like this because I get so many emails from people who get their car windows smashed. I seriously saw three examples including the photo above in Cleveland Park. Even if you just have sneakers or gym clothes in a backback, please don’t leave bags in a parked car or there is a good chance you will get your window smashed.

Also, don’t clip your nails on the metro…

Thanks to a reader for sending an update of this tragic murder, in the Woodner building on 16th St, NW, of the Washington Post:

“But more than 24 hours later, after she hadn’t shown up at their restaurant, Coppi’s Organic, Carlos felt a creeping sense of dread. Nori always told him, “Go with your gut!” And his gut told him to get to her apartment, where he and another sister, Blanca, pounded on the door. No answer.
