“On Saturday, March 26, 2022, the 2022 Rock n Roll Half Marathon and 5K will take place in the District of Columbia. In conjunction with this event, there will be parking restrictions and street closures that motorists should take into consideration.

When safe to do so, the Metropolitan Police Department will assist motorists in crossing the race route to help relieve traffic congestion due to the extended closures. However, motorists should not rely on crossing the route and should plan on going around the traffic closures.

The following streets will be posted as Emergency No Parking on Saturday, March 26, 2022 from 12:01 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.: (more…)

“Metro’s Board of Directors today voted to approve a $4.5B package of service and construction projects that delivers affordability, service and safety as part of the Fiscal Year 2023 (FY23) budget. Highlights include cheaper late-night and weekend fares, maintaining service improvements especially for bus customers, and funding for the Silver Line Phase 2 service and the Potomac Yard Station. The budget also funds Metro’s capital program which has improved safety and reliability across the system.

The budget supports the region’s economic recovery from the pandemic and provides more flexibility to customers that may no longer be commuting to work five days a week. Popular fare discounts implemented in 2021 will become permanent to keep Metro affordable as well as provide more frequent all-day service on bus and rail. (more…)

“We saw a silver sedan being chased by multiple MPD vehicles. It almost took out multiple cars and pedestrians on 13th, M street and came back out from the alley then headed to Thomas Circle”

“Saw car speeding east on N Street, swung left on 13th going south at former BP station with MPD patrols and copter in pursuit. Pedestrians scattered back to sidewalks.”

Friday night around 2am my friend was looking for a parking spot by my home. Guy behind us kept flashing his high beams at us – got inpatient and then floored it across Harry Thomas Way/3rd st. He then hit 4 parked cars and flipped his own car. (more…)

“Detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit are investigating a traffic fatality resulting from a traffic crash that occurred on Thursday, March 17, 2022, at the intersection of New York and New Jersey Avenues, Northwest.

Preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 8:22 pm, a silver vehicle was travelling northbound on New Jersey Avenue, Northwest, and ran a red light. At the same time, a pedestrian was crossing New Jersey Avenue, Northwest from east to west, in a marked crosswalk when they were struck by the silver color vehicle. The pedestrian was then struck a second time by a dark color vehicle that was traveling northbound on New Jersey Avenue, Northwest, who ran the red light. (more…)
