And not all were happy about it, got a lot of queries about this on twitter last night too. Ed. Note: Helluva game though – GO CAPS!!!

“Dear PoPville,

Last night, local NBC 4 covered the Caps game via helicopter. It was hovering non stop between 7:30 pm and 8:40 pm. Presumably, it left to refuel and was back hovering at 9:30 until 11:20 pm. I called NBC 4 and was told that they had an exclusive permit to fly until 11:30 pm to get footage of the crowds outside of the Capital One arena. The woman I spoke with said they were getting other callers complaining about their helicopter noise.

I am in Logan Circle, far enough away from the arena and even with ear plugs and closed doors and windows, the constant noise was driving me mad. Read More

“Dear PoPville,

First, let me say that although I am not a hockey fan, I AM very excited for the Capitals! I just have questions. Starting yesterday, MPD had blocked off 6th St NW from H to E St, and F St NW from 5th to 7th. My understanding is there isn’t even a game here until Saturday, so… what is all this stuff? Will it be like this until the hockey is over (which I hope will end with a celebratory parade)?”

It’s cause we have the greatest fans – the scene outside Capital One Arena Last night (where there are viewing parties):

From MPD:

“The 2018 Stanley Cup Final, began on May 28, 2018, and the series has the potential to last until June 13, 2018.

The Metropolitan Police Department wishes to advise the public of street closures in conjunction with the 2018 Stanley Cup Final: Read More

“Dear PoPville,

Advice needed. My 75 year-old mom is a Washington, DC native and long-time, die-hard Caps fan! I so want to get tickets for the Stanley Cup finals but cannot afford the cost of two tickets (~ $1400). Where do you think we could watch the games with other fans that would be fun and lively but not too rowdy for an ‘old’ lady? What bars / restaurants will likely show the games and fit that description? She lives in Northwest and I live in Northeast.

Thanks and GO CAPS!”

From an email bu add your recs in the comments please:

“Declaration Shaw & Nats Park will be offering an all-night happy hour every time the Caps take on the Knights. Declaration Shaw provides a more intimate bar to catch the games, whereas Nats Park has four flat screen TVs along with an outdoor walk-up bar. Read More

Now that the fury is here. Where will you watch history unfold?!? I know DC Reynolds (in Petworth photo above) will be lit. Ventnor Sports Cafe in Adams Morgan is always fun. Who’s else is having specials? Lou’s in Columbia Heights? Remember, The Prospect closed on U Street. So Solly’s? Moreland’s upstairs in 16th Street Heights? Brookland’s Finest? Navy Yard will have some outdoor action too. Where will you watch?

“The Bullpen will air all Washington Capitals games with sound on their brand-new Bullpen Big Screen. Fans can catch all the action at The Bullpen as the Caps take on the Lightning in the NHL Conference Finals.
