This super cool sign is from Barrack’s Row near the Eastern Market Metro stop. Sadly, it’s been half covered up. I think there was a big coca cola sign covered up but I was most intrigued by the Oysters advertisement.

I thought this was a super cool shot from hellomarkers!
Speaking of cabs has anyone else noticed it’s becoming more difficult to get one late night on U Street? It’s starting to remind me of Adams Morgan in that regard. Or maybe I just look to much like a ruffian…

He found it at “23rd and Penn, SE. Just across the bridge over the Anacostia.” Anyone ever eat there? It kinda reminds me of what those awesome faded signs, we see around town, probably looked like in their prime.

“We snapped this pic walking from the Argonaut to RR Hotel this weekend on H Street, NE”

Charles writes:
“As we pulled up to the stop sign (22nd and Fairlawn SE.) my wife and I looked at one another and said, almost simultaneously, “sweet city sign.”
According to the next-door neighbor, who lives in a wonderful house built by the works’ original owner and who wandered by while I was laying on the sidewalk trying to get the shot with both the cool fence and the sweet sign in the same frame, the iron works was a functioning business until a couple of years ago, when the owners wanted to sell for more than the market would bear. The works themselves were condemned and demolished, but the office remains almost intact, looking like the owners just pulled out the day-before-yesterday, phones on desks and keys and business cards displayed.”

I told you Brookland was good to me…

We’ve judged the building but never the sign. What is “European Style Residences”? What I imagine is that the shower heads don’t have a hook and the cord is really short… I guess they could have bidets as well? I also imagine lots of smoking and some really good 2 hour long lunches.
What do you think they mean by “European Style Residences”?

“Hey PoP,
I know you often post cool city signs and I saw this ridiculously cool one on a site I often search for old picture of DC (www.shorpy.com). Apparently 1727 7th Street NW used to be the “Happy News Cafe” back in 1933. Thought this was pretty cool. May not be new info, but it’s new to me.

I also like the caption under the picture.
And if you want to see the inside of the place, it’s here – http://www.shorpy.com/node?
Very cool!

Sometimes the real simple ones are the best. Ok, Wayan, if you’re so good – where is this sign from? IMGoph – don’t help him!
