A little help. Here is one from Petworth. And here is one from Arkansas and 16th. I know I’ve seen a number of others as well that I can’t find in the archives. I wonder how many of these sculptures there are around the city. The one pictured above is the smallest one I’ve seen. They are absolutely unbelievable though. I’d love to get one for PoP headquarters…

I’d love to know the history behind these sculptures. Anyone know anything about these?

This is a seemingly ordinary row house until you take a closer look above the windows. I’m pissed I didn’t get a better close up but I think you can tell how incredible these faces are.

Check out this sculpture on the front of a rowhouse. Two words define this beauty – spectacular. Scratch that, one word defines it.

And it’s for sale too. I saw this at Miss Pixies new location on 14th Street. I’m not sure if you can tell from the photo but the rooster is gigantic. Super cool. But “Let me understand, you take the hen, the chicken and the rooster. The rooster goes with the chicken. So who`s having sex with the hen?”

Look at this thing. I’m no sophisticated critic but I’d have to say it is pretty awful. Please tell me one redeeming quality about this sculpture. Ok, I thought of one, the restaurant Zaytinya is behind it and I kind of like Zaytinya. But seriously, does anyone dig this?

Clement Greenberg famously said, “You like it, that’s all, whether it’s a landscape or abstract. You like it. It hits you. You don’t have to read it. The work of art-sculpture or painting-forces your eye.”

So who likes it?

Or at least the most moving? This sculpture, located on Columbia Road, outside a homeless shelter or temporary housing of Christ House an inpatient medical facility for people who are homeless and have acute medical needs, is really powerful. But then I was thinking that the standing water in the begging bowl is a great breeding ground for mosquitoes. What’s wrong with me?

No way, a gigantic origami crane! That is freaking awesome. God bless the person who commissioned this one. You see, this is one of the many reasons why I think drugs should be legalized…

While we’ve seen dozens of lions guarding people’s porches, this is the first one I’ve seen in a frieze. Pretty cool, yeah?
