I thought this sculpture was pretty powerful. It is St. Jerome the Priest AD 341-420. “Greatest Doctor of the Church” sculpted by I. Mestrovic, located outside the Croatian Embassy.


Anyone recognize where it’s from? Hint: It’s from a bridge.


I don’t really understand how these fountains work but I dig ’em. How do these fountains work? You know cycle the water etc.?


I also caught this guy painting the monument which was pretty cool. It’s a pretty tough spot to beat. Hard to imagine what it was like 20 years ago.


I had actually seen the other side of the sculpture before but never realized there was another sculpture on the back. Phenomenal. These sculptures can be seen all over Mt. Pleasant (many have been highlighted on PoP). So what do you prefer for the old fire boxes – sculptures like this one or the ones that are painted?


I don’t know how it’s taken me this long to find it…
